Column: There are actually a few positives to take away from Ohio State’s poor defensive performance against Illinois

Despite holding Illinois to nineteen points during their recent matchup, Ohio State struggled defensively by allowing four hundred sixty-two total yards and chunk plays through both the air and ground. Running back Aidan Laughery accumulated one hundred thirteen yards on eleven carries with a touchdown, while quarterback Katin Houser faced heavy pressure resulting in three sacks.

In spite of these front seven vulnerabilities, safety Jaylen McClain delivered a standout performance, recording a team-high eight tackles and four pass breakups to anchor the secondary under head coach Bret Bielema's opposing offensive scheme.
