Following a lopsided fifty-six to twenty-six defeat against Oregon State, Colorado State head coach Jim Mora confirmed the immediate dismissal of defensive coordinator Tyson Summers. Summers was stripped of his play-calling responsibilities during the opening half as the opposing squad amassed an early advantage, after which he departed the sideline voluntarily and permanently parted ways with the program.
Co-defensive coordinator Kenny McClendon stepped into the play-calling role for the remainder of the contest, prompting an immediate sack and fumble from the defense. Mora indicated that McClendon will retain primary defensive duties moving forward as the team attempts to shore up a unit that has surrendered one hundred ninety-three total points through the first five games of the season.
