Colorado Buffaloes defensive back Boo Carter faced disciplinary scrutiny yet again after throwing Utah State’s Dallen Bray onto the sideline during a second-quarter play on Saturday. The incident, which resulted in a 13-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, occurred just weeks after head coach Deion Sanders publicly called out Carter for temper issues during a team meeting following Colorado’s 41-7 loss to Northwestern.
Sanders had already dismissed three players for conduct problems after that game, emphasizing that talent would not excuse disciplinary lapses. The penalty handed Utah State a first down, contributing to a 23-13 loss for Colorado, which has struggled with penalties and turnovers this season, including a 29-7 defeat to Texas Tech earlier in the year.
Sanders’ repeated warnings about self-control appear to have fallen short with Carter, whose actions have now drawn direct attention from both coaches and officials.
