The latest Coaches Poll Top 25 reflected dramatic shifts after a weekend of high-stakes losses for several powerhouse programs. Oregon plummeted 12 spots to 24th after a home defeat to UCLA, while Alabama dropped to 7th following a narrow overtime loss to Georgia.
Texas also fell from the top spot to 6th after losing to Oklahoma, and LSU tumbled 11 places to 20th after an overtime setback to Kentucky. Meanwhile, UCLA surged 10 spots to 11th, Kentucky rose eight to 16th, and Missouri climbed three to 12th, capitalizing on their recent wins.
Boise State’s inclusion at 23rd despite losing to Oregon in Week 1 sparked debate, as did USC’s 15th-place ranking despite its own loss to the Ducks. The poll also saw Florida, Duke, and Pittsburgh exit the top 25 entirely, while Northwestern, Arizona, and Nebraska received votes for the first time this season.
