Coach Amol Muzumdar sets the record straight after India snub Mohsin Naqvi at Women's Asia Cup: ‘Stand taken by BCCI’

Following India's 72-run triumph over Sri Lanka in the Women's T20 Asia Cup final at the Dubai International Stadium, head coach Amol Muzumdar affirmed that the squad intentionally avoided the podium to support a directive from their governing board. Asian Cricket Council president Mohsin Naqvi, who likewise serves as Pakistan's Interior Minister, handed Sri Lanka skipper Chamari Athapaththu the runners-up award, but the overall presentation finished without the victors walking out to take the winner's silverware.

Prior to the ceremony, top BCCI figures Devajit Saikia and Rajeev Shukla conferred among themselves before conversing with the squad, leading to the decision to bypass the stage.

Speaking to the press, Muzumdar stressed that the team fully aligned with the BCCI's position, noting that the campaign is complete and that the unit's focus has transitioned toward the Asian Games. The development echoes an earlier incident involving the Indian men's side under Yadav, who previously declined to exchange handshakes with Pakistan's cricketers following armed hostilities linked to an attack in Pahalgam, while also leaving their own Asia Cup prize uncollected from Naqvi.
