Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney has landed a significant recruiting coup, securing the commitment of standout tight end Wright Martin from Nashville’s Christ Presbyterian Academy. The 6-foot-2, 245-pound prospect chose the Tigers over powerhouse programs Ohio State and Georgia, as well as ACC rivals SMU, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.
Martin cited Clemson’s culture as the deciding factor, praising the program’s emphasis on values beyond football during campus visits and interactions with players and coaches. His decision follows a recent visit to Ohio State, where he had previously leaned toward Clemson after evaluating multiple top programs this fall.
The commitment marks Clemson’s second addition in the Class of 2028, joining quarterback Trace Hawkins, and underscores Swinney’s continued influence in recruiting despite the Tigers’ recent on-field challenges, including a 7-6 record last season and a 3-2 start this year. Martin specifically highlighted Swinney’s leadership and the tight ends coach Kyle Richardson’s mentorship as key factors in his choice, calling both figures instrumental in shaping the program’s culture.
