Ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, the Kansas City Chiefs promoted linebacker Cole Christiansen from the practice squad via a standard elevation. This marks Christiansen's third consecutive game called up to the active squad following a knee injury suffered by Cooper McDonald during the opening week of the season.
Having exhausted his regular-season practice squad elevations, Christiansen will return to the practice unit immediately following the conclusion of the contest. Fellow linebacker Cam Jones emerges as a potential candidate for future elevations while McDonald remains on the injured list through the upcoming bye week.
Throughout his tenure with the organization dating back to 2022, Christiansen has appeared in 23 total games including postseason action, primarily contributing on special teams where he logged over half of the unit's snaps during the previous two weeks. Despite these appearances, he has yet to record a single defensive snap in the NFL.
Earlier in the year, the franchise utilized alternative elevations for defensive tackle Marcus Harris during the first two weeks and defensive end Tyreke Smith for the third week, with Smith ultimately sitting out inactive on game day.
