Chicago Bears place Braxton Jones on Injured Reserve

October 3, 2026

The Chicago Bears have moved starting left tackle Braxton Jones to the injured reserve list due to a knee injury sustained during their recent Monday night victory against the Philadelphia Eagles. Because he missed all practice sessions throughout the week, the franchise decided to sideline him, though he becomes a candidate to return after sitting out four games if his recovery progresses well.

Head coach Ben Johnson confirmed that Theo Benedet will step into the starting left tackle role for the upcoming matchup against the New York Jets, as Ozzy Trapilo continues working his way back from his own knee ailment despite participating fully in recent practices. To bolster the roster temporarily, the organization also elevated defensive lineman Marcus Davenport and cornerback Nick McCloud from the practice squad for Sunday, with both expected to return to that unit following the contest.
