Chelsea and London City ease to WSL victories

Chelsea and London City Lionesses boosted their positions in the Women's Super League standings, rising to second and third spot following wins against Birmingham and Charlton. Coming off an emphatic 5-0 thrashing of Manchester United, Chelsea earned a 2-0 triumph thanks to an eighth-minute strike under the crossbar from Lexi Potter and a 71st-minute substitute effort by Melvine Malard, who notched her maiden goal at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, London City Lionesses rebounded from a prior 2-1 defeat against West Ham by cruising past newly promoted Charlton 4-1 to remain in pursuit of table-topping Manchester City. Isobel Goodwin delivered two quick strikes inside the opening quarter of an hour to build an initial cushion, and while Jodie Hutton pulled one back in the 39th minute, Jana Fernandez struck before the interval to re-establish the margin before Nicole Anyomi sealed the contest with a 76th-minute goal.
