Chelsea and London City ease to WSL victories

Chelsea and London City Lionesses boosted their positions in the Women's Super League to second and third following triumphs against Birmingham and Charlton. Coming off a five-goal shutout of Manchester United the prior week, the Blues claimed a 2-0 result thanks to an eighth-minute strike into the top netting by Lexi Potter.

Substitute French forward Melvine Malard then sealed the outcome during the 71st minute, marking her maiden goal at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, London City Lionesses recovered from a 2-1 defeat against West Ham to register a 4-1 victory over newly promoted Charlton and maintain pressure on pacesetters Manchester City. Isobel Goodwin supplied two goals in the opening quarter of an hour before Jodie Hutton pulled one back in the 39th minute.

Jana Fernandez rebuilt the two-goal cushion prior to the interval, and Germany's Nicole Anyomi capped the scoring with London City's fourth strike in the 76th minute.
