CFP issues non-statement on expiring 30-day negotiating period with ESPN for expanded playoff

The College Football Playoff organization recently concluded a 30-day exclusive window for media rights negotiations with ESPN regarding a potential 24-team postseason structure. While the October 9 deadline passed without a finalized agreement, the governing body confirmed that productive talks remain ongoing.

ESPN now has until October 19 to review the final proposal and submit a formal offer. If the parties fail to reach an accord by that date, the organization plans to solicit bids from other networks on the open market.
