Celtics announce starting lineup before opening game against Pistons

Boston has finalized its starting five for the season opener against Detroit, opting for Derrick White, Jordan Walsh, Jayson Tatum, Paul George, and Mitchell Robinson. This group mirrors the lineup utilized during the team's undefeated preseason run.

Meanwhile, the Pistons will counter with Cade Cunningham, Duncan Robinson, Ausar Thompson, John Collins, and Jalen Duren. Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla downplayed the significance of the initial lineup, arguing that game-specific rotations throughout the contest carry more weight than the opening five.

Sixth Man of the Year Payton Pritchard echoed this sentiment, noting that his focus remains on total minutes played and overall impact rather than starting status.
