Boxing star Canelo Alvarez recently shared his enthusiasm for golf during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, noting that he picked up the sport in 2019 during the coronavirus pandemic and has been hooked ever since. The former undisputed super middleweight champion currently holds a handicap of 10 and typically shoots around 80 or 82 despite being forced to abandon his clubs entirely during rigorous training camps.
Alvarez confessed that he would likely be a scratch golfer if his boxing career did not require him to step away from the course. The athlete is currently preparing for an upcoming title defense against Christian Mbilli for the WBC Super Middleweight Championship, scheduled for October 31 in Saudi Arabia, boasting an impressive career record of 63-3-2 while his opponent stands at 29-0-1.
Throughout his time as a golfer, Alvarez has experienced several renowned courses, including California's Del Mar Country Club, Pebble Beach, and Shadow Creek.
