Canada’s Olympic return was years in the making

The Canadian women's national volleyball program has booked its ticket to the LA28 Olympic Games, marking the squad's first appearance at the tournament in 32 years. Behind this milestone lies a multi-year transformation that included capturing a sixth-place finish at the 2026 Volleyball Nations League Finals and claiming a historic NORCECA Continental Championship title.

High-Performance Director Shannon Winzer and coaches Tom Black and G helped orchestrate the steady climb, overcoming the heartbreak of missing the Paris 2024 Olympic cycle by strengthening national development pathways, daily training environments in Richmond, and securing over 1.5 million dollars in Volleyball Empowerment funding since 2020.
