Buccaneers fall to 0-3 with loss to Vikings, as Baker Mayfield injures thumb and Todd Bowles' seat gets hotter

Tampa Bay slipped to a winless record after falling 23-16 to Minnesota at home, dropping their early season standing to zero wins and three losses. During the closing moments, starting quarterback Baker Mayfield exited immediately to the locker room after sustaining a right thumb injury on a final passing attempt, which head coach Todd Bowles later confirmed as a dislocation requiring an MRI.

Undrafted replacement Jalon Daniels stepped in for the final seconds, throwing a Hail Mary interception as the visitors held on to secure the victory. The struggling hosts continue to battle execution issues, highlighted by a surrendered punt return touchdown, an erased long scoring play due to a penalty, and an ineffective offense that struggled against constant defensive pressure.
