Following a rough 34-10 defeat against the Jacksonville Jaguars to open the campaign, the Cleveland Browns executed eight roster transactions on Tuesday. The team placed second-year running back and kickoff returner Dylan Sampson on injured reserve, sidelining him for at least four weeks after he sustained a knee injury during his second return attempt in the opening period.
The season-opening loss also marked an unwelcome beginning for head coach Todd Monken, whose defense conceded four touchdown passes and 245 passing yards to opposing quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
To replenish their backfield depth, the Browns promoted running back Jaleel McLaughlin from the practice squad to the active 53-man roster. Cleveland completed several other reinforcements by acquiring running back Eric Gray alongside offensive tackles Obinna Eze and another player to bolster the squad.
