Bristol Rovers assistant head coach Paul Raynor has revealed he is facing a bowel cancer diagnosis after doctors located a tumor. The sixty-year-old coach intends to continue attending matches whenever his health permits, with chemotherapy and radiotherapy scheduled to begin later this month.
Raynor expressed optimism about his prognosis after learning the disease has not spread to vital organs and noting high expected success rates for the upcoming treatment.
The condition was discovered following a screening sample that initially triggered abnormal test results before leading to a rapid consultation. Having arrived at the club alongside manager Steve Evans in December 2025, Raynor hopes to return to full coaching duties on the training pitches later in the campaign.
