Brewers name Christian Yelich first official team captain in franchise history

History was made on Saturday as the Milwaukee franchise established Christian Yelich as the first official team leader to wear the designated uniform patch, clearing the decision with former star Robin Yount beforehand. The veteran outfielder, who secured league MVP honors during his debut campaign in the city back in 2018, currently boasts 1,089 appearances alongside 186 long balls and 616 driven-in runs while playing on a multiyear agreement extending through 2028.

Entering the weekend with the highest victory count across baseball at 101, the division champions have already secured their postseason ticket and top National League positioning.
