Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski opened Game 1 of the National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres by throwing a 104.8 mph fastball, which set a new postseason record and surpassed Mason Miller's 105 mph-adjacent mark from the previous year. He followed this with a 104.6 mph offering, ultimately claiming the top two spots for fastest playoff pitches in league history.
Misiorowski already holds the record for the quickest pitch by any starting hurler at 105.5 mph and the most triple-digit offerings in a single contest, having thrown 57 such fastballs against the St. Louis Cardinals in May.
The 24-year-old right-hander is positioned to win the National League Cy Young Award following a regular campaign in which he went 16-5 with a 1.80 ERA and led all of Major League Baseball with 252 strikeouts over 174 two-thirds innings.
