Bills news: Buffalo’s coaches react to season-opening win
Joe Brady kicked off his tenure as Buffalo Bills head coach with a dramatic 36-31 road victory against the Houston Texans on September 13, 2026. The wild Week 1 contest featured eight total changes of the lead, with four occurring in the fourth quarter alone.
Brady, who noted that any victory is welcome regardless of appearance, joined rare company by becoming merely the fourth person in franchise history to win during his Buffalo regular-season coaching debut. Quarterback Josh Allen powered the scoring attack, helping compensate for defensive shortcomings much like the squad experienced under former head coach Sean McDermott.
Following the exciting finish, Allen delivered a message to Brady, who lauded his roster's flexibility and execution while walking off the NRG Stadium field. The head coach specifically recognized wide receiver DJ Moore and tight end Dalton Kincaid for their influential offensive contributions during the thrilling road triumph.
Despite the joyful postgame atmosphere, Buffalo's demanding early slate leaves little room to dwell on the opening success.
