
Connecticut has been tapped as the favorite to capture the upcoming Big East men's basketball regular season crown, according to the league's preseason coaches' poll revealed on Thursday. The Huskies secured eight top votes and swept the conference's individual accolades as Silas Demary Jr.
earned Preseason Player of the Year and Colben Landrew claimed Preseason Freshman of the Year honors.
St. John's was projected to place second in the standings, capturing two first-place votes as Rick Pitino prepares his squad following their tournament exit last spring. Marquette earned the remaining first-place vote, with the top five spots in the conference rounded out by Villanova, Providence, and Xavier.
