BCCI urged to think about players' welfare and ‘remove’ IPL auction: ‘It’s not right for mentality, takes a toll'

Veteran Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has voiced strong opposition to the Indian Premier League auction system, stating that the intense uncertainty creates significant psychological distress for cricketers. Speaking with Jatin Sapru, the 36-year-old admitted that he struggled to maintain composure during bidding processes despite his established international pedigree, even suggesting the auction format should be abolished entirely for player wellbeing.

He cited his anxiety during the 2014 auction while an active national team member, as well as the 2025 bidding event when he tracked his professional fate while competing for Uttar Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
