The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has intervened to rescue Arunachal Pradesh’s domestic cricket season amid administrative chaos within the Arunachal Cricket Association (ACA). The state forfeited its Ranji Trophy opener against Nagaland and missed participation in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy and Under-19 Women’s T20 Trophy due to internal disputes and legal battles before the Guwahati High Court.
To prevent further disruptions, the BCCI formed a three-member selection committee—chaired by former Assam cricketer Satya Gopal Chakraborty—to pick teams for men’s and women’s competitions across age groups, ensuring players retain opportunities despite the turmoil. The committee, which includes Jayanta Chowdhury and Deep Bora, has already begun trials ahead of Arunachal’s next Ranji Trophy match against Sikkim, scheduled for October 18 in Nadiad.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia emphasized that protecting players’ interests was the priority, drawing parallels to a similar intervention in Bihar to keep cricketing activities running smoothly.
