The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) convened a strategic review with the Indian women’s cricket team in Guwahati following their Asian Games gold medal triumph. The meeting, led by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, included captain Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, and head coach Amol Muzumdar, as the team reflected on its mixed recent performances.
While India underperformed in the T20 World Cup earlier this year, their subsequent victories in the Women’s Asia Cup and the Asian Games have provided momentum for future planning. No major leadership changes were discussed, and Harmanpreet Kaur’s captaincy appears secure for now, supported by the team’s recent successes.
The BCCI is expected to allow the current leadership to build on these improvements ahead of the upcoming series against Zimbabwe, which will mark India’s first bilateral tour with the team. The selection committee, led by chief selector Amita Sharma, is set to finalize the squad for the three-match T20I and three-match ODI series starting October 16 in Raipur.
