India's women's cricket team secured an eighth continental title by defeating Sri Lanka by 72 runs in the final, but the squad declined to step onto the Dubai pitch for the scheduled prize-giving event. Asian Cricket Council president Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan's interior minister and cricket board head, was left waiting on stage before distributing the runners-up prize to the Sri Lankan side and departing.

Indian cricket administrators had pre-notified regional authorities that their squad would decline the silverware if presented by Naqvi, prompting team coach Amol Muzumdar to reaffirm that the players strictly followed board directives regardless of the missing physical award.

The boycott mirrors actions taken previously by the Indian men's squad, who similarly avoided handshakes with Pakistan and refused to receive silverware from Naqvi following the April 2025 Pahalgam assault. Board secretary Devajit Saikia explained that while national policy permits competing in multi-nation events, accepting accolades from an adversarial state leader remains intolerable.
