BCCI Annual General Meeting leaves Ajit Agarkar's future open as office-bearers get final say on selection committee

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has left the determination of Ajit Agarkar's future role with the senior men's selection panel to its top executives, following discussions held during the 95th Annual General Meeting in Mumbai. The former international seamer, who initially took charge of the committee in July 2023, is nearing the conclusion of his agreement next month.

According to vice-president Rajeev Shukla, the assembly opted to delegate the final choice directly to the administrative leaders, while Arun Singh Dhumal and Majumdar secured their positions on the Indian Premier League governing council.

Should the administrators decide against granting Agarkar a prolonged tenure, the cricket board must initiate a formal recruitment campaign, solicit candidates, and conduct candidate interviews before naming a successor. The Mumbai meeting saw the attendance of prominent figures including Mithun Manhas, Devajit Saikia, Cricket Association of Bengal head Sourav Ganguly, and Jharkhand representative Saurabh Tiwary.
