Awarding Man City's winner at Man Utd an error, admits refereeing body

English officiating authority Pro Ref has conceded that Manchester City's decisive strike during their 1-0 triumph over Manchester United at Old Trafford was mistakenly permitted. The 60th-minute effort by Erling Haaland was initially waved off by the linesman before video review reversed the call because Patrick Dorgu kept the Norwegian forward onside.

Following the derby, the organization reached out to United to admit that an evaluation blunder occurred, confirming that a pitchside monitor review ought to have been advised.

While Haaland himself was onside, teammate Enzo Fernandez stood in an offside spot and made an effort toward the ball prior to the back-post strike. Though Fernandez never made contact, his actions influenced defender Lisandro Martinez, which under the sport's regulations warranted chalking off the goal.

Pro Ref, which recently rebranded from PGMO and operates under the leadership of Howard Webb across competitions such as the top four men's tiers, the National League, the WSL, and Premier League 2, confirmed that a full assessment of the sequence will be carried out.
