Austin Smotherman secured his second consecutive PGA Tour victory by edging Seamus Power in a three‑hole playoff at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. The 32‑year‑old clinched the win on the oceanside 16th at Port Royal Golf Course, sinking a 14‑foot putt for par after Power missed a short up‑and‑down from the rough.
The final round had been called off due to 40‑plus‑mph winds, leaving both players tied at 16 under before the Monday playoff.
The playoff saw Smotherman scramble for par on the first extra hole, while Power missed a 21‑footer for birdie. On the second hole Smotherman hit the front of the green and holed a long lag, whereas Power’s bunker shot only tied the hole, leading to a third sudden‑death hole where Smotherman prevailed.
The victory extends Smotherman's two‑year winner’s exemption and grants him Championship Series status through 2029, while Power moved up to 68th in points, securing full status for the next season.
