Asian Games: Satwik-Chirag win not enough as India lose men's badminton SF

India's men's badminton squad captured a bronze medal at the continental multi-sport competition hosted in Aichi-Nagoya following a 3-1 semifinal defeat against China. The opening singles encounter saw Shi Yu Qi defeat Lakshya Sen in straight games to put China ahead.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty leveled the contest by overcoming Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang 21-11, 22-20. China reclaimed the advantage when Li Shifeng beat Ayush Shetty in straight games, and the decisive blow was struck when Hariharan Amsakarunan and MR Arjun fell in three games during the second doubles clash.

Despite the elimination, the squad secured consecutive team podium finishes for the first time in four decades.
