Arunachal Pradesh’s Ranji Trophy Plate Group opener against Nagaland has been forfeited after the state cricket association became paralyzed by a legal dispute. The crisis stems from a Gauhati High Court stay on elections held in September, where Nabam Vivek was elected president but later challenged by district associations over alleged irregularities.
With no functioning authority in place, the BCCI cannot intervene, leaving the team unable to field players—including a missed Under-19 match against Sikkim earlier this week. The court’s pending decision has blocked any resolution, forcing Arunachal Pradesh to withdraw from the match scheduled in Ahmedabad.
The team, which finished last in the Plate Group last season with five straight losses, now faces an uncertain future in the tournament alongside Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Sikkim.
