The 2026 MotoGP title race between Jorge Martín and Marc Márquez remains razor-thin after Aprilia’s dominant sweep at Mandalika, where Martín still leads the Ducati rider by just two points. Despite Aprilia’s strong showing—including a podium sweep by Martín, Marco Bezzecchi, and Raúl Fernández—the team’s struggles in the Sprint race handed Márquez a crucial victory, while Martín’s fourth-place finish failed to close the gap.
Aprilia’s technical director, Fabiano Sterlacchini, highlighted Sepang and Qatar as the two tracks where the team feels less competitive, citing past struggles in Malaysia and Martín’s absence from Qatar last season due to injury. Meanwhile, Márquez’s absence from multiple rounds last year—including a severe crash during his comeback in Qatar—adds uncertainty to the final five rounds, with Phillip Island, Lusail, Portimao, and Valencia remaining as potential deciders.
Bezzecchi, currently third in the standings 46 points back, will also play a key role in Aprilia’s title hopes as the season progresses.
