The PGA Tour’s caddie instability continued this week as veteran Darren Woolard abruptly left journeyman golfer David Lipsky mid-tournament at the Baycurrent Classic in Japan. After a tense stretch, Woolard walked off during the final round at Yokohama Country Club, forcing Lipsky to scramble for a replacement—rumored to be his trainer—before teeing off.
The split followed a frustrating tournament for Lipsky, who started with a 66 but struggled in subsequent rounds, finishing Sunday with a 70 after early bogeys. At 38, Lipsky has won on multiple tours, including a runner-up finish at the Valspar Championship earlier this year, but has missed cuts in six of his last 10 starts before this event, entering ranked 85th in the season standings.
Woolard, who has caddied for players like Scott Piercy and K.H. Lee, is the latest in a series of caddie departures this season, adding to a trend of volatile partnerships on the Tour.
