Atlanta forward Angel Reese secured the Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year honor on Saturday, becoming the first player in her franchise to claim the accolade. Reese paced the league with 12.1 rebounds per contest, ranked third in steals, and maintained a stifling defensive rating while battling past competition from Gabby Williams, A'ja Wilson, and Napheesa Collier.
She also set a historic benchmark by becoming the first WNBA player to exceed 500 rebounds in a single campaign, finishing the year with 521 total boards.
Alongside Reese, other prominent stars claimed major Associated Press accolades for their stellar performances. A'ja Wilson captured the Player of the Year distinction for the third consecutive year after dominating the MVP landscape throughout the season.
Meanwhile, Minnesota Lynx newcomer Olivia Miles secured the Rookie of the Year award in a unanimous vote following her dominant debut campaign.
