Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has urged his squad to refine their attacking approach ahead of a Champions League showdown with Fenerbahce, emphasizing the need for sharper finishing and more decisive runs into the box. Despite a 100% European record this season—culminating in a 12-goal haul across three group-stage matches—the Reds struggled to find the net in their recent Premier League defeat to Arsenal, registering zero shots on target at home for the first time since the 2003-04 campaign.
Iraola acknowledged the defensive resilience of Arsenal but insisted Liverpool’s attacking execution fell short, particularly in creating clear scoring opportunities. With a knockout-stage spot still within reach, the team will face Fenerbahce in Istanbul, where former Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt now serves as interim coach after replacing Ismail Kartal.
Kuyt, who joined the club as an assistant this summer, has taken charge permanently following Kartal’s departure, though he downplayed his own role, instead highlighting the importance of a strong performance to honor the club’s passionate fanbase.
