Following a postseason elimination on Thursday evening in Atlanta, interim manager Don Mattingly declined to address whether he would remain at the helm for the Phillies in 2027, stating that his personal status was secondary to the team's overarching goals. Mattingly had originally stepped into the role in late April when the club sat at a 9-19 record, ultimately guiding them to a 79-55 mark under his supervision and a postseason berth.
While Bryce Harper opted not to comment on his manager's future, teammates J.T. Realmuto, Kyle Schwarber, and Trea Turner voiced strong support for his return, pointing to his calm demeanor, accountability, and the way he steadied the team.
Owner John Middleton also praised the turnaround, noting that the squad played exceptionally well over the remainder of the schedule.
