Alexander Volkanovski Battled Two Nasty Staph Infections Before UFC 314 Fight Against Diego Lopes

Alexander Volkanovski recently defended his featherweight title at UFC 333 by defeating Movsar Evloev with a second-round finish. Despite suffering from flu symptoms, a chest infection, and a head cold during the event in Abu Dhabi, the champion opted against using medication.

Teammate Cody Thicknesse noted that this performance was not unusual for the fighter, as he had previously overcome two staph infections located in his armpit and nose before his victory over Diego Lopes at UFC 314. Craig Jones and Oscar Willis also confirmed the severity of the champion's health struggles during his recent fight week.
