Alabama’s offense faces a significant setback ahead of Saturday’s showdown with Tennessee after head coach Kalen DeBoer confirmed wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams is highly unlikely to play. The junior suffered multiple injuries during Alabama’s 20-17 loss to Georgia, including a knee issue and a head injury after a hard hit in the fourth quarter.
DeBoer noted Coleman-Williams has been battling a persistent knee problem while also dealing with the aftereffects of the collision, calling his recovery a week-to-week situation. Despite the setbacks, the coach praised the receiver’s resilience, highlighting his leadership and effort to stay involved with the team even while managing his injuries.
Coleman-Williams has contributed 23 receptions for 415 yards and four touchdowns this season, including three catches for 39 yards against Georgia before exiting the game. With his availability in doubt, Alabama will need to rely on a rotation of receivers like Lotzeir Brooks, Rico Scott, Derek Meadows, Cederian Morgan, and Noah Rogers to step up against the Volunteers.
The game between the No. 6 Crimson Tide and No.
14 Volunteers kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC from Knoxville.
