A look back at the history between the Saints and Vikings

The New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings are set to renew their storied rivalry on Sunday, October 11, at the Caesars Superdome, marking their 38th regular-season meeting. The two franchises have a rich playoff history, including a dramatic 2010 NFC Championship clash where Garrett Hartley’s 40-yard field goal in overtime secured a 31-28 Saints victory, sending them to Super Bowl XLIV.

Another unforgettable moment came in the 2017 NFC Divisional Round, when Stefon Diggs delivered the “Minneapolis Miracle” with a game-winning 61-yard touchdown as time expired. This week’s matchup carries added significance for the Saints, as legendary quarterback Drew Brees will be inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor—a fitting tribute to his 15 seasons as the franchise’s all-time leader in passing yards and touchdowns.

Meanwhile, the Vikings arrive undefeated at 4-0, looking to maintain their perfect start, while the Saints aim to rebound from a disheartening loss to the Falcons. The game will air on FOX, with Brees serving as color analyst alongside Adam Amin and Kristina Pink, offering a unique perspective from someone who knows the rivalry intimately.
