In a bid to bolster their depleted wide receiver group, the San Francisco 49ers promoted Brandin Cooks from the practice squad to the active roster on Thursday. This roster adjustment followed the release of KhaDarel Hodge, while Malik Turner was brought in to fill the newly vacant practice squad slot.
San Francisco has faced considerable misfortune at the position recently, with Christian Kirk, Demarcus Robinson, Ricky Pearsall, and De'Zhaun Stribling currently sidelined on injured reserve, alongside a day-to-day designation for Mike Evans due to a rib injury sustained during Week 3.
Cooks originally joined the practice squad in late September and is seeking his first game action of the current campaign. A veteran first-round draft selection by New Orleans back in 2014, Cooks brings extensive experience from stints across multiple franchises.
Meanwhile, Hodge departs the active roster after missing consecutive practice sessions due to a knee issue, leaving behind modest production of a single catch for eighteen yards over three appearances this season.
