Seeking to address significant injury concerns within their pass-catching unit, the San Francisco franchise promoted wideout Brandin Cooks from the practice squad to the active roster on Thursday. This decision follows a wave of setbacks that placed several key targets on injured reserve, including Demarcus Robinson, De'Zhaun Stribling, Christian Kirk, and Ricky Pearsall.
Additionally, Mike Evans remains day-to-day due to a rib injury sustained during the third week of action.
Alongside the elevation of Cooks, the organization made additional adjustments to the practice squad by adding Malik Turner and letting go of KhaDarel Hodge. Hodge had dealt with a knee issue that kept him out of a recent training session, finishing his tenure with a single reception across three appearances this year.
Cooks originally joined the practice squad in late September and aims to make his season debut, while Turner rejoins the organization after previous stints with multiple franchises throughout his career.
