49ers expecting Mykel Williams to return as soon as he’s eligible after opening practice window

San Francisco defensive lineman Mykel Williams has returned to the practice field after beginning the season on the physically unable to perform list due to a torn ACL sustained during his rookie campaign. General manager John Lynch expressed optimism regarding the second-year player's recovery and anticipates that the defender will rejoin the active lineup immediately upon becoming eligible in Week 5.

The franchise has faced significant depth challenges after losing six different defensive linemen to injuries across the initial two weeks of the schedule.
