The San Francisco 49ers promoted veteran pass-catcher Brandin Cooks to their main lineup from the practice unit following the departure of Khadarel Hodge. Hodge was let go after missing Thursday's practice due to a knee issue, compounding a series of receiving corps injuries that previously sidelined Ricky Pearsall, Christian Kirk, De'Zhaun Stribling, and Demarcus Robinson, while Mike Evans manages a rib problem.
To rebuild organizational depth, San Francisco also welcomed Malik Turner back to the practice squad and recently added Dante Pettis earlier in the week. Cooks approaches a milestone sitting 189 yards shy of 10,000 career receiving yards following a previous campaign split between New Orleans and Buffalo.
