[WATCH] Virat Kohli takes stunning one-handed catch in the slips to dismiss Nathan Smith

Virat Kohli made an immediate impact in India’s opening ODI against New Zealand at Eden Park, delivering a breathtaking one-handed catch at second slip to dismiss Nathan Smith in the 29th over. Smith, pushing forward at a length delivery from Anshul Kamboj, sent the ball low and wide, giving Kohli the perfect opportunity to execute a diving grab with his right hand.

The moment showcased Kohli’s fielding prowess and set the tone for India’s aggressive approach, as the team capitalized on rain delays by electing to field first. India’s bowlers, led by Arshdeep Singh, Gurnoor Brar, and Kamboj, dismantled New Zealand’s top order, taking key wickets and leaving the hosts reeling at 115 for 7 in just 28.3 overs.

Rohit Sharma also contributed with an acrobatic run-out, adding to the pressure on New Zealand’s batting lineup. Kohli’s performance came ahead of his 37th birthday, marking a fitting start to the series as he returns to international cricket after a recent series against the West Indies, where he surpassed 15,000 ODI runs, including an unbeaten 139 in the first match.
