Hardik Pandya has encountered another delay in his journey back to one-day internationals after a shin injury ruled him out of the upcoming matches for India A against Australia A in Puducherry. The all-rounder was supposed to use the three-match series as an evaluation of his readiness to bowl his full allocation of ten overs, but medical staff have instead recommended two weeks of complete rest following a bone stress response in his right tibia.
This latest setback follows a sequence of fitness hurdles stretching back through the IPL and subsequent rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence.
Former Australia captain Michael Clarke has voiced doubts regarding the player's capacity to string consecutive appearances together without physical breakdown. Speaking on a podcast, Clarke noted that the cricketer struggles with playing back-to-back fixtures despite maintaining overall physical strength and a solid frame.
With previous shin discomfort flaring up again during a recent bowling session, the timeline for his return to national duties ahead of the New Zealand tour remains uncertain.
