Steelers offense struggles vs. Falcons: Who's to blame, what needs fixing

Mike McCarthy began his tenure as Pittsburgh's head coach with a 20-13 victory over Atlanta, though his attack sputtered for much of the contest. The Steelers totaled a meager 264 yards, converting only 3 of 13 third downs, failing on both fourth-down attempts, and reaching the red zone just twice.

Aaron Rodgers completed 24 of 40 throws for 221 yards with a score while being dropped for two sacks, and the ground tandem of Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle managed only 61 yards across 18 attempts behind an unstable line. Warren also coughed up a turnover inside his own 30-yard mark during the opening quarter that led directly to Atlanta's lone touchdown, while high-priced receiver DK Metcalf hauled in merely four of 10 balls for 40 yards amid drops and missed contested catches.

Pittsburgh ultimately prevailed thanks to its defensive unit, which limited Falcons third-string passer Cooper Rush and the rest of the offense to 238 total yards and a 2-for-12 conversion rate on third down. J.
