Following a decisive 72-run triumph over Sri Lanka in the Women's T20 Asia Cup final at Dubai International Stadium, India's squad bypassed the post-match ceremony and did not accept the winner's silverware from Asian Cricket Council head and Pakistan Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Indian cricket board officials Devajit Saikia and Rajeev Shukla conferred with the squad prior to the awards, leading the victors to stay off the ground while Naqvi presented second-place honors to Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu.

The event mirrored a prior incident where India's men's lineup under Suryakumar Yadav declined handshakes with Pakistani counterparts and similarly refrained from collecting their Asia Cup prize from Naqvi after border skirmishes linked to the Pahalgam assault.

Addressing the situation, India women's head coach Amol Muzumdar affirmed that the squad fully aligned with the governance choice orchestrated by the BCCI. Dismissing lingering questions regarding if or when the trophy would formally be delivered, Muzumdar emphasized that the campaign had drawn to an official close with India acknowledged as titleholders on the stadium scoreboard, adding that the team is now turning its attention toward the upcoming Asian Games.
