Team India secured the men's cricket title at the Asian Games 2026 after defeating Pakistan by 19 runs in the tournament's final match. Following the championship victory, former player Irfan Pathan took to social media to celebrate the dominant performance against their rivals.
Captain Shreyas Iyer chose to bat first after winning the coin toss, leading his squad to a total of 211/6 across twenty overs. Abhishek Sharma contributed a top score of 61 runs, while teammate Tilak Varma added 51 to help establish a competitive target.
In response, Pakistan managed 192/6 before their innings concluded on the final delivery of the match.
Hasan Nawaz anchored the opposing chase with an impressive knock of 94 runs, though his solitary effort fell short of securing a win. Bowlers Axar Patel and Washington Sundar applied heavy pressure by dismantling the opposition's upper order early in the innings.
Shivam Dube chipped in with 27 runs during the batting phase before ultimately claiming the final wicket with a slower bouncer caught by Sanju Samson. The triumph allowed India to successfully defend their continental crown following a previous gold medal win at the prior edition of the multi-sport event.
