“Sinner & Alcaraz Are Having More Serious Injuries Earlier Than Federer & Nadal” – Kim Clijsters Voices Concerns About Longevity Of Star Duo

October 8, 2026

Former world No. 1 Kim Clijsters has raised concerns about the early injury struggles of rising tennis stars Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, comparing their current setbacks to the later-career health challenges faced by legends like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer.

Alcaraz, plagued by a persistent right wrist issue, withdrew from both the French Open and Wimbledon in 2026, while Sinner concluded his season early due to a knee injury—specifically inflammation and tendinopathy—that forced him to skip the US Open, the Asian swing, and the ATP Finals. The Italian star, who had been sidelined since Wimbledon, opted for rest and therapy after specialists ruled out surgery for his overuse-related condition, which stemmed from a physical twist suffered during the tournament.

Clijsters noted the intensity of modern tennis, with longer rallies and grueling matches, may take a toll on their bodies over time, contrasting their early struggles with Djokovic’s remarkable longevity, including his 2026 China Open title at age 39 and his 34-0 record in Beijing.
