Organisers of the London Marathon settled the schedule for the upcoming two-day edition using a casual hand game. Sabastian Sawe and Catherine Debrunned faced off in a round of rock, paper, scissors to determine which day would feature the men's and women's elite races.
Debrunner emerged victorious over Sawe, resulting in the men's competitions landing on Saturday, 24 April, while the women's events will unfold the following day. Hugh Brasher noted that splitting the showcase allows the event to highlight the athletes more prominently, alongside a wider expansion to accommodate a record-breaking number of participants.
