'Of course there is tension' - how Leclerc sees Ferrari Mexico fallout

Charles Leclerc has finally weighed in on the fallout from Ferrari’s chaotic Mexican Grand Prix, where team orders and driver tensions reached a boiling point. The Monaco-born driver, who became a father for the first time last week, admitted he was initially unable to engage in discussions due to the personal milestone.

Upon returning to the team’s fold, Leclerc held private talks with Lewis Hamilton and team principal Fred Vasseur, calling the matter ‘fully settled’ and urging the media to move past it. While he acknowledged the competitive friction between himself and Hamilton—‘of course there is tension’—he emphasized that open dialogue had helped resolve differences, framing it as a necessary part of team dynamics rather than a long-term issue.

Hamilton echoed this sentiment, confirming both drivers had ‘squashed’ their disagreements and were now focused on future races, though the underlying pressure to outperform each other remains intact.
